Harton Farm
Harton
is a stone-built 17th-century cottage-style farmhouse with a slate roof.
It is south-facing and situated in a hidden valley, so is peaceful and
secluded. The farm is set amongst trees in an area of gentle hills just
off the southern edge of Exmoor National Park, where there is excellent
walking. There is a traditional, comfortable family suite for 4 people,
plus a twin-bedded room. The bathroom is separate with two toilets,
bath, shower etc.
The flower garden greets you as you approach the house
down the lane, and the fruit and vegetable gardens are behind the stone
buildings which make up the inner yard. A huge range of produce is grown
including many unusual herbs and speciality crops. Meals are home-cooked,
including the bread and ice-cream and also the pork, beef and lamb are
produced on the farm to high standards of welfare. Good, wholesome food
and plenty of it is what Harton provides. A vegetarian menu is available
too.
Robin and Lindy keep sheep (150 breeding ewes), pigs,
a cow or two, goat, chickens, 3 working dogs and 4 cats. All the animals
are very people-friendly, and are used to being handled. Children are
welcome to join in on the job round.
